Second half of my "failed" 12 Hour Comic.

I know it's not cool to say stuff like this, but I think my comic is damn funny. I laughed so hard at the third to last panel I actually had to stop drawing to recover. The rules state you're not allowed to plan anything in advance - story, character designs, layouts, etc., so I made up the whole thing as I went along. No part of this comic existed before I set the pencil to paper, so every panel took me by surprise. The entire story can almost be taken as a dialogue with myself - the human characters ask the questions I had to pose to form the plot and "God" usually answered with whatever ridiculous idea popped into my head first. My one qualm with the writing is that the comedic timing gets redundant. The set up and the reaction were always the same, I'm worried it gets a little flat at the end. At the same time, now that I know that's how I write comedy, I can be more careful about when I use it in the future.

As for the art, a lot of it is pretty gruesome. In the first half, you can see I was really trying to get backgrounds in there, with as many angles as possible. As the clock ran down, I went for a lot of medium shots of talking heads. The character designs are all over the place because I was experimenting. I always thought it would be cool to draw comics in which the style complimented the mood of each specific panel, but now that I have a mock-up of what it would look like, I realize it looks really sloppy. Not just sloppy, unprofessional, like I'm not a strong enough draftsman, which just isn't true. On the other hand, some of the panels are pretty nice.

Damn, what is this shit, my autobiography? Just read the comic and leave me some feedback, I put a lot of heart into it.

The "Surprise!" panel gave me a good chuckle.

Heh. God's eye is a vagina.

Seriously, this was great. I loved how the bizerre events were kept grounded by the couple's interactions. The expressions and gestures were acutely depicted. My favorite part was the bit where he's like "we're not pregnant!", that way that modern couples say it, and then she's like "surprise!"

If this were a mini, I'd have paid for it.

Furthermore, you make me ashamed of my own feeble first effort this year at a 24 hour comic.

What I really like is that you're looking deeper and seeing story structure problems in even a quick comic. I wouldn't worry too much abouyt the character's loo mchanging panel to panel, though. Joann Sfar and Jamie Hewlett's characters don't look nearly the same from one panel to the next, but nobody has any trouble telling who's who, because they keep enough traits constant to tell the reader who's who, and then they let the drawing style serve the mood of the panel to it's fullest.
