FakeHeadsTen Art Facts about me. I was tagged by
1) I don't like sketchbooks. People always like to snatch them out of your hands, flip through them and pass judgement. Because I know everything I do in a sketchbook will be seen, I get really tense and I rarely draw well. Thus I use sketchbooks as a mini portfolio, only drawing in them when I'm having a really good day art-wise
2) This relates to the first fact, but I do most of my drawing on scrap paper. I will honestly draw on just about anything, I horde discarded paper. I recycle all the drawn on scraps that I don't like, and save the good ones in a drawer.
3) I'm sort of an art MacGyver - I like using anything I can get my hands on to draw with. Dying Sharpies, ugly Crayola pencils I find on the ground, sticks dipped in ink, my dirty fingers, etc.. It's mostly because I'm a miser and I don't like to use expensive materials if I'm just playing around, which I usually am.
4) Ink's my favorite medium. I'm still looking for the perfect refillable brush pen (any recommendations?)
5) When I was in elementary school I drew on my desk all the time. My teachers would get really frustrated and my parents were called in on more than on occasion. I eventually confined my class doodles to the margins on my notes and the backs of test papers, but I still got in trouble sometimes.
6) As a kid I would draw lying on the living room floor in front of the tv. I had this weird habit of writing down snippets of whatever dialogue I heard, so most of my old notebooks look kind of schizophrenic. Kind of really schizophrenic. I had to train myself not to do it because people teased me (see fact #1).
7) I was the biggest Sailor Moon fan in junior high and the beginning of high school. I don't know why, but I was obsessed. I drew my first "anime eye" in the 7th grade.
8) I pretend to hate color, but I'm actually just afraid of it. I don't know what a "good" painting is - everything about color and design feels very foreign to me.
9) I've been a "serious" art student for eight years. I'm one of those people who would have no identity if drawing was somehow taken away from me. There isn't a single day when I haven't drawn something (I think).
10) The majority of my cartoons are naked. Distorting the human form is what interests me most. Hands and feet are especially fun.
